Privacy Policy

Introduction
Rotonda POS is an offline-first business management application developed and operated by El Cheikh Ayman. This privacy policy explains how we handle your data. The short version: your business data stays on your device. We do not run servers that store your invoices, products, customers, or accounting. The only data that leaves your device is a small amount of technical information needed to manage your free trial, activation codes, and subscriptions — described below.
Data Storage
Rotonda POS stores all your business data locally on your device. We do not maintain any remote servers that store or process this information.
The following data is stored locally on your device only:
- Invoices (sales, purchase, and return invoices)
- Products and services catalog
- Inventory and stock information
- Customers and suppliers
- Accounting records and journal entries
- Income and expense records
- Fund transfers between accounts
- Unique tracked items with serial numbers
- Reports and analytics data
- Currency exchange rates
- Your preferences and settings
Data Ownership
All business data you enter into Rotonda POS remains 100% yours. We do not collect, transmit, or sell your invoices, products, customers, accounting records, or any other business information. That data is never uploaded to our servers or any cloud service (apart from the optional Google Drive backup you choose to enable).
Licensing, Trial & Subscription Data
To manage the free trial, activation codes, and paid subscriptions, the app processes a limited amount of technical data. This does not include any of your business data.
Free trial & activation codes
To prevent abuse of the free trial (for example, reinstalling the app to restart it) and to bind activation codes to a device, the app sends the following to our backend, operated using Google Firebase (Cloud Functions and Firestore):
- A device identifier (on Android, the system ANDROID_ID)
- Platform, device model, operating system version, app version, and device language
- For activation codes: the code you enter and the date it was redeemed
This data is used solely to determine trial eligibility and to validate activation codes. It is not used for advertising or profiling.
Subscriptions
Paid subscriptions are purchased through Google Play and managed using RevenueCat, a subscription-management service. When you view the subscription screen or make a purchase, RevenueCat processes:
- An app-generated user identifier and device identifiers
- Your purchase and subscription history (plan, status, renewal/cancellation events)
This data is used to deliver, restore, and manage your subscription. Payment itself is handled entirely by Google Play — we never receive or store your card or banking details. RevenueCat acts as our service provider for this purpose; see the RevenueCat Privacy Policy and Google Privacy Policy.
Optional Crash Reporting
Rotonda POS may use Firebase Crashlytics (a service provided by Google) to report app crashes anonymously. This helps us improve app quality. These reports contain only technical information about the crash (such as device type, app version, and error details) and do not include your business data.
- No personal information is collected
- No business data is included in crash reports
- Reports are anonymous and cannot be linked to you
Device Permissions
Rotonda POS uses the following device permissions. Each permission is used only when you explicitly trigger the related feature:
Camera
Permission: android.permission.CAMERA
Purpose: Barcode scanning when adding or looking up products. This permission is optional — if you don't grant it, you can still add products manually.
Data accessed: Camera preview for scanning barcodes only. No photos or videos are recorded or stored.
Bluetooth
Permissions: BLUETOOTH_CONNECT, BLUETOOTH_SCAN, BLUETOOTH, BLUETOOTH_ADMIN
Purpose: Connecting to Bluetooth receipt printers to print invoices and reports.
Data accessed: Device names of paired Bluetooth printers only. No personal data is transmitted.
Storage
Permissions: READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE, WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE
Purpose: Importing products from Excel files and exporting reports to PDF.
Data accessed: Files you explicitly select from your device storage. No data is automatically accessed.
Google Drive Backup
Purpose: Backing up your app data to Google Drive (optional). This helps you restore data if you reinstall the app.
Data backed up: Your business data (invoices, products, customers, etc.). This backup is encrypted and only accessible by the app.
Google Play Data Safety
Consistent with the above, we declare the following on Google Play:
- Device or other IDs: Collected and shared with our service providers — used for app functionality (trial, activation codes, subscriptions) and fraud prevention.
- Purchase history: Collected and shared with RevenueCat — used to manage your subscription.
- App info and performance: App version and anonymous crash data (Firebase Crashlytics) — used for app functionality and stability.
- Business data (invoices, products, customers, accounting, etc.): Not collected — stored only on your device.
- Data encrypted in transit: Yes.
- Users can request data deletion: Yes — see below.
Data is shared only with the service providers needed to run these features (Google Firebase, Google Play, and RevenueCat), and not sold to anyone.
Data Retention & Deletion
Your business data lives on your device and is removed when you delete it in the app or uninstall the app. For the limited technical data described above (trial, activation, and subscription records), you can request access or deletion by emailing us at rotonda.app@gmail.com. Note that some subscription records may need to be retained where required for legal, tax, or fraud-prevention purposes.
Children's Privacy
Rotonda POS is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. If we make any significant changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
